Fabian Lim’s Real Internet Secrets Singapore Workshop – on being a Mentor
Real Internet Secrets Workshop (RIS) is a two and half day intensive internet marketing training by Fabian Lim. This is normally held at Singapore Management University (SMU). The program used to be called the Internet Marketing Bootcamp where I was part of the last batch in March 2009. The last RIS Singapore event (by the way, there is also a RIS Malaysia) was held as usual at SMU last March 26-28, 2010. This time I was one of the mentors of the class for the third time. Our role is to assist the students in any difficulties that they may encounter which were normally related to technical challenges.
Just to give you an idea of what the program can offer.
Day 1 – Service Setup Session – this entails the setup of accounts like domain names from
godaddy, google adwords account, reseller
web hosting and some optional Amazon and Paypal Merchant accounts.
Day 2 – is all about Market Research, Website Creation basics, Traffic Generation thru Pay Per Click (PPC) Marketing
Our main job is to help the students from any technical problems that may arise such as creating basic landing page by html editing, file upload to web host via ftp FileZilla, creating Google Adwords campaign and even how to do a copy-paste (ctrl+v and ctrl+p) haha – it is funny but its true.
Wow, you might be wondering how can this be so technical huh? Well it might break your head at first but not that much because you will also be taught to lessen if not eliminate your technical challenges. Now how is that possible? You can simply outsource your content writing and website creation. This is the business approach of working less on the technical aspects of internet marketing. Or invest on some tools to expedite your
keywords research which is very vital in your market demand research.
You can also do joint venture partnership with your friends to leverage on each other strengths. Also, you can approach us or ask help from your mentors since you will definitely encounter some challenges when you go back to your home. You have to create a very strong reason why in the first place you want to learn an online business. So your commitment, persistence and your ability to go out of your home and connect with internet marketers will definitely help you in your journey.
